About Us

About UsMission

Box Wine Theatre believes that human nature is beautiful in its’ flaws and we celebrate those flaws by producing stylistically or thematically unique shows which represent the comedy and tragedy that exists in all of us. Our goal is to bring a meaningful experience to our audience without a Broadway-sized budget while sparking new ideas and encouraging the questioning of mainstream social norms and opinions.

History

Box Wine Theatre was co-founded as a Twin Cities-based theatre company by Adam and Bethany Sharp. The company obtained fiscal sponsorship by the non-profit organization, Springboard for the Arts in 2008.

The name Box Wine Theatre was chosen playfully stating, “We’re cheap and we get the job done.” But in ernest, we sincerely hold the belief that high artistic caliber and merit of work should outweigh extravagance and spectacle.

After six seasons in Minnesota, Box Wine Theatre moved to New York City along with its’ co-founders.  Box Wine’s inaugural New York Production will be our fifth installment of Raucous Caucus, our annual political play festival, September 29 – Oct 1 2016. Performances will be at The PIT Striker at 123 E 24th St, NYC.
